Is Cruciate Ligament Knee Surgery (TPLO Surgery) Successful For Dogs?

Is Cruciate Ligament Knee Surgery (TPLO Surgery) Successful For Dogs?

Yes TPLO surgery for cruciate ligament injuries in dogs has a high success rate of 85-90%, however good post-operative care is also essential. There are three types of cruciate surgery for dogs: TPLO, ELSS and TTA.

Most Common TPLO Surgery

  • Tibial Plateau Levelling Osteotomy Surgery (TPLO Surgery) is a common and effective procedure

Less Common TPLO Surgery

  • Extracapsular Lateral Suture Stabilisation Surgery (ELSS)
  • Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA)

If you do choose the surgery route, a brace is a very good idea to make sure the knee is stable and heals to the best of its ability post-surgery.
